About Carmela:

I share my home with my husband of 25 yrs, 1 awesome son who is a senior in college, and my beautiful college sophomore daughter. I love animals or should I say I have a passion for animals. As a young girl and throughout my entire life I have always had pets. I currently am owned by 3 mischievous dogs. Two of the 3 dogs are rescues. I am also owned by 3.5 birds. I know what your thinking 3.5? I have a Timneh African Grey named Max who is 5.5 yrs old. I adopted him from a friend. I have a 4 yr old Quaker named Sushi who I also got from the same friend, and 1 little Love Bird named Squirt. I had planned to give Squirt to another family and as many of you know what happens when you bring a pet in the home it usually stays forever. The .5 is my daughters Love Bird named Emerald. I currently take care of him while my daughter is away at school. Each one of the birds has their own unique personality. Max came to me being a loner. Not wanting anything except food from me and now he is the sweetest bird. I wouldn’t trade him for the world. My Sushi bird is just one of the most entertaining birds I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He is by far a much better talker than Max or any bird I happen to spend time with. He reminds me of a 3 year old child. He even sings songs such as You Are My Sunshine and his personal favorite is Row Row Row Your Boat. My very close friend Leslie and I were always trying to think of new ways to keep our birds busy and entertained. We also got tired of spending a fortune on toys so we decided to get into the business of selling and making our own toys. I hope you enjoy browsing through our site. About Leslie:

I have had a love affair with animals since the age of 5, when I found a tiny black kitten on my way home from kindergarten and convinced my Mom to let me keep him. I am currently living with one senior rescued cat and 7 birds. The smallest is a baby green parakeet named Limerick and the largest is 11 yr old greater sulfur crested cockatoo named Lola (who happens to be a male J). I’ve also adopted a female African Grey that goes by the name of Bella, add to the list of adoptions are a female white capped Pionus named Murphy and a female Quaker named Jabber. I also recently adopted a 23 + yr old yellow-nape Amazon by the name of Mike and he just started to sing & whistle “3 Blind Mice” in perfect pitch! The last member of the flock is a gold capped conure that was rescued from a tall tree by the FDNY. I have been searching for its owner but to date we haven’t located them.

Every one of the birds has a very distinct personality and I love each and every one of them. Lola is the jokester and Bella & Murphy will do just about anything for a pine nut.

Mikey Bird, which he prefers to be called, loves all Italian food. I can’t even say the word “mozzarella cheese” in front of him. He starts to sing and dance around in anticipation of a tiny piece. The little conure loves to take its daily bath in the kitchen sink. It also says “how are you” when you say hello.
